Final day of the festival - 'Respect for the aged day'

2017年9月20日

As it was the final day of the festival, and also a public holiday, we decided this would be a great time to take a short break from work and spend an hour wondering around the Hajoya Festival again.

The whole concept of festivals is very different in Asia to in the UK, and I saw many things I had never seen before!

These included turtles which you can catch and take home as pets, 3000 Yen ginger for sale, iced beer 'slushies', fighting beetles for sale, and all manner of brightly coloured sugary foods which I have never tried before!

I am extremely health conscious (my other business is as a fitness professional), so I don't eat these kinds of sugary foods, but I did treat myself to frozen pineapple (which I won on a game of 'Janken' or 'paper, scissors, rock' as we call it in the UK) and also 1/2 of a warm mochi!

It was such a hot day and the sun was shining, so this frozen pineapple on a stick was exactly what I needed, and a lovely healthy treat :-)

Have a lovely day everyone!

David
