'Culture Day' - My personal experience

2017年11月5日

November 3rd in Japan is a national holiday called 'Culture Day'.

It is not something I know much about, but we decided to go for a walk to a local castle in Okinawa, and were fortunate enough to come across a historical re-enactment of the King and Queen of Ryukyu, visiting three sacred temples!

It was quite a sight for us, and wonderful to see.

The atmosphere was lovely and the weather was perfect! It was so warm and sunny, and many families were out with their children, eating festival food and drinking beer and awamori.

We didn't stay for too long as we had teaching later in the afternoon, but we were there for long enough to witness our first traditional, historical re-enactment, and also to have our own mini Culture Day experience!
