Striving for a life in 'perfect balance'

2017年11月21日

‘A life in perfect Balance’

‘Too much of anything is never a good thing’

 - food, alcohol or exercise for example are good in small amounts, but too much leads to obesity, sickness and damage to the body.

‘Knowing when to stop at the right time is one of the greatest skills’

- studying, business development, gambling etc being able to stop and walk away at the right time means that you get the required benefit without any of the negative consequences.

‘Being able to understand and appreciate seemingly opposing views makes a person very wise’

- appreciating someone else’s view, despite it not being your own, is a key way to alleviate arguments and would potentially prevent many wars.

‘Having qualities which are soft and hard in nature makes a person complete and able to handle anything that life throws at them’

- being able to fight your way out of trouble is one thing, but what about dealing with sensitive issues like with a child, partner or animal?

Being gentle, compassionate and caring AND being able to handle dangerous or physical problems without breaking down is a powerful skill.

‘Achieving balance in all things is the key to a life of happiness and good health’

- having only one interest in life makes you a very uninteresting person who is missing out on a lot of life. For example,

I love sport, but when I am around people who ONLY want to discuss sport I get very bored!

We need to have multiple facets to our personality, and various interests in order to get on with others and have the greatest interactions and the most FULL, COMPLETE and EXCITING lives.

These are some thoughts that I have adapted in to a more modern context from the great book - ‘Tao Te Ching’.

I have read this book more than any other book in my life, and it’s effect on my life has been more profound than any other philosophy or text.

I strive to be balanced in all ways and even built my businesses in the UK around these concepts.

I am still trying to achieve this myself and will be a student for my entire life.

So far I am enjoying the journey!

Have a perfectly balanced day everyone!
