Hamamatsu Expedition!

2018年2月7日

Yesterday we had to attend a business meeting in Hamamatsu, east of Kyoto.

As we had the Shinkansen transport paid for us, we arrived early so we could explore this new city!

There’s a chance we may be living here from April, so we thought it was a good idea to look around.

We travelled up the the highest point in the city and caught a wonderful view across Shizuoka prefecture, and were even lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the snow covered Mt.Fuji! We have plans to climb it in July. I cannot wait!

Next we visited Hamamatsu castle, which was the smallest castle we have ever seen! It was very cute though, and contained lots of ‘samurai’ artefacts. I grew up dreaming of being a samurai, so this was really great to see!

One thing I found interesting was a life sized replica of a famous samurai from the family clan who lived in the castle. He was a fearless warrior and the tour guide said he was very tall at the time, although compared to people today he was so short! Only up to my shoulder height.

Lastly we looked briefly at the ‘Yamaha’ music museum ornaments (we didn’t have time to go in!) as this is where they are based. Hamamatsu is called ‘the music city’ as it is where the production of some of the best musical instruments in the world takes place and where many live musical performances are held.

All in all it was a great day and the meeting went well! We were treated to a long lunch and business chat whilst eating. The choice is now in our hands whether we will accept the offer which was proposed to us. This is a huge decision to make, but we have around 4 weeks to decide.

Whatever happens I know we will make the best out of any situation.
