Despite all of the problems we faced in Kawaguchiko, we were determined to have a good time! After our unsuccessful attempt of Fuji-san, we headed to the infamous 'Aokigahara' to explore the forest and enjoy the trails. The weather was still not great, but armed with my little blue umbrella, and (not really very...) waterproof clothing,  I was ready for anything!!!

The forest certainly had an eerie feel to it. But generally I just found it extremely beautiful and mysterious. Not so sinister as many blogs and stories had led me to believe. 
Having said that - we did come across some interesting examples of nature, including the blood red tree shown above, and also this twisted tree below!

Fortunately we weren't in the dark, as there were HUGE craters and holes in the ground all around! It is no surprise that it is known as 'the sea of trees', as it really looks like one!
The perspective is very hard to see in this photo, but these holes in the ground was massive!!!

Anyway - all in all we may have not succeeded on this attempt of climbing Fuji-san, but we will be back, and we will win!
What's more - I can't imagine the weather being any WORSE than last weekend, so from now on, anything will be a bonus!
