Familiaris Book Club — Advanced English Reading & Discussion
Class Description:
Join me for an in-depth, upper-advanced English reading experience with Familiaris by David Wroblewski — a powerful, literary novel exploring family, love, transformation, and the deep bond between humans and animals. This is a long and rewarding journey (over 900 pages!), but one that offers incredible growth in reading comprehension, vocabulary, pronunciation, and literary interpretation.
How the Class Works:
In each session, we will read aloud together, pausing often to discuss meaning, vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation. We’ll focus on both literal understanding and figurative interpretation, exploring how the author’s language and themes connect to real life and cultural ideas. You’ll practice natural reading flow, intonation, and emotional expression while gaining confidence in advanced discussion skills.

Before You Begin:
Since Familiaris is a long and immersive novel, this class is ideal for learners who enjoy detailed reading and ongoing discussion. I personally have a hard copy of the book, and because of its length, we’ll move at a steady, enjoyable pace that encourages comprehension and reflection — not speed.
For our first trial session, we’ll read from the Amazon sample together. This allows you to experience the writing style and decide if the book feels like the right fit for you before committing to the full course.
