Each season, we’ll enjoy a different story chosen to match the atmosphere of the time of year.

Currently: SPRING EDITION (March-April)

This spring, we’ll read a gentle classic about a kind pig and a wise spider, who form a deep friendship full of loyalty, kindness, and cleverness to save the pig's life.

The story begins on a farm awakening in spring, capturing new life and the beauty of nature while exploring themes of friendship, compassion, and sacrifice.

In this lesson, you will..

Practice reading and pronunciation as we read an excerpt from the book together
Improve your speaking and comprehension skills through a relaxed discussion about the story
Learn new and useful vocabulary from the book

If you enjoy animal friendships, heartfelt moments, and the fresh feel of spring, this lesson is for you—suitable and enjoyable for A2+ to C1 learners!

(Please note, this lesson is not designed for language/grammar corrections. You will learn new vocabulary, practice reading (or listening) and pronunciation, and have a free, uninterrupted conversation of the lesson topic.)

If you previously joined any seasonal book club lessons (such as the spooky autumn ghost story or the Christmas special), please note that those have now been combined into this one all-season format. The story will still change each season, just under one lesson.

For intermediates Fun Enthusiastic

This was a wonderful book club lesson, perfect for the upcoming Christmas season. We read A Kidnapped Santa Claus, which was truly fascinating. While some of the vocabulary was new to me, I could practice it before reading the story. Thank you, Ray, for organizing such a delightful reading experience. I highly recommend this lesson to anyone who wants to enjoy reading or rediscover the joy of reading.

楽しくてすごく充実した内容のレッスンでした。先生と一緒に教材の本の一部を読んでいくのですが、レッスン全体がとてもよく工夫されています。難しそうな単語を最初に勉強し、パートに分かれて音読、そして内容について話をします。質問もありきたりでなく、どう思うとかどうしてそう思う、と話が広がっていくので面白い会話ができました。中級レベルで読み易く、先が気になるストーリーです。早速本を買って読み始めました。話し易くて会話が弾むいい先生に出会えました。
