This book is a compilation of letters, the legendary author J.R.R. Tolkien wrote to his children every Christmas, over the course of twenty years. Reading this book, these letters, is one of the most fun reading activities in any English class, regardless of age group. It is liked by children and adults alike.
The light innocence, clarity and simplicity of language and the unique wit and personality of Tolkien's writing, makes it a perfect text for English learners (A1 level onwards) to start with.
