Description
Once you have learned the basics of Latin grammar, it’s time to move forward and experience the beauty and depth of the language through its original texts. This lesson is designed for learners who already have some knowledge of declensions and conjugations and want to strengthen their skills while engaging with real Latin passages.
Latin at the intermediate level is more than memorizing grammar rules—it’s about understanding how the language works in authentic contexts. Reading and translating short passages from Roman authors not only improves your command of Latin but also gives you a direct connection to the thoughts, values, and creativity of the ancient world.
In this course, you will:
-
Consolidate your knowledge of grammar (irregular verbs, complex uses of the cases, subordinate clauses)
-
Expand your vocabulary and idiomatic expressions commonly used in Roman texts
-
Practice structured translation exercises that encourage precision, logical thinking, and sensitivity to linguistic nuances
-
Read short excerpts from authors like Caesar, Cicero, or Ovid (adapted at first, then closer to the original)
-
Learn strategies to analyze and understand a text in Latin without relying too much on a dictionary

Students who already know the basics of Latin (declensions, basic conjugations) and want to progress
