Lesson Pack Details

This is a 4-lesson pack. You will be issued 3 “coupons” when the first request is confirmed. You will be able to use these coupons for subsequent requests in the pack. Please note that all requests related to this pack must be taken within 30 days of the first lesson date.

Lessons should generally be booked chronologically, meaning that the second lesson should be booked after the first, and so on.

Description

Once you have learned the basics of Latin grammar, it’s time to move forward and experience the beauty and depth of the language through its original texts. This lesson is designed for learners who already have some knowledge of declensions and conjugations and want to strengthen their skills while engaging with real Latin passages.

Latin at the intermediate level is more than memorizing grammar rules—it’s about understanding how the language works in authentic contexts. Reading and translating short passages from Roman authors not only improves your command of Latin but also gives you a direct connection to the thoughts, values, and creativity of the ancient world.

In this course, you will:

  • Consolidate your knowledge of grammar (irregular verbs, complex uses of the cases, subordinate clauses)

  • Expand your vocabulary and idiomatic expressions commonly used in Roman texts

  • Practice structured translation exercises that encourage precision, logical thinking, and sensitivity to linguistic nuances

  • Read short excerpts from authors like Caesar, Cicero, or Ovid (adapted at first, then closer to the original)

  • Learn strategies to analyze and understand a text in Latin without relying too much on a dictionary

  • Students who already know the basics of Latin (declensions, basic conjugations) and want to progress

  • Learners preparing for exams in Latin or related fields (classics, history, philosophy, literature)

  • Anyone eager to access the original voices of Roman writers and thinkers

Format:
Each session (60 minutes) is a combination of:

  • A short grammar review to solidify core concepts

  • Guided translation and discussion of Latin passages

  • Exercises to practice analysis and reasoning, focusing on how each word contributes to the meaning of the sentence

  • Cultural insights into Roman society, history, and literature to make the language come alive

At the end of this course, you will not only feel more confident with Latin grammar—you will also have the satisfaction of being able to read and interpret original Latin texts, experiencing firsthand the timeless beauty of Roman thought and expression.

Cancellation of pack lessons

• 'Unstarted' lesson packs(1) can be cancelled any time. Used Points will be completely refunded. If a 'started' lesson pack(2) is cancelled, you will be refunded 50% of the price of the remaining lessons provided that the lessons are unrequested, unconfirmed or not within 24 hours of their scheduled start times.
(1) A lesson pack for which none of the requests have been confirmed by the tutor.
(2) A lesson pack with at least one confirmed request. (By confirming the date and time for the first lesson in the pack the tutor confirms the pack as a whole and coupons are automatically issued)

Cancelling individual requests in a pack

• If you wish to cancel a single lesson that belongs to a pack but not the whole pack, you can do so via the request page. In this case, the coupon used to book the lesson will either be refunded or collected, based on the tutors single-lesson cancellation policy. Please note that any 50% partial refunds in the tutors single-lesson cancellation policy do not apply to lesson packs and the tutor may choose to either refund or collect the coupon in those cases.

Before request is confirmed (fixed)

  • Cancellation possible at any time without charge.

After request is confirmed (fixed)

  • More than 24 hours before lesson start time.→ Cancellation is possible at any time.
  • Less than 24 hours before lesson start time.→ The tutor may take a cancellation fee.
  • No-Show→ The tutor may take a cancellation fee.
