课程介绍

Who it’s for:

Perfect for English learners who are comfortable with daily conversation and looking to develop soft skills alongside their English skills.

Don’t worry about your English level – I’ll adjust my speaking style to ensure you feel comfortable and supported throughout the lesson.

What we’ll do:

1. Before the lesson: You can choose a category for our debate topic from the following: General, Current Events & Global Issues, Ethical & Social and Fun & Lighthearted. I’ll send you the topic in advance if you prefer. An example of a general debate topic is: ‘Is social media good or bad?”

2. During the lesson: We’ll start with a few warm-up questions. After that, I will support you in developing your debate arguments by asking thought-provoking questions to help you consider various angles. Towards the end of the lesson, we’ll engage in a friendly debate where we rebut each other’s arguments. I’ll provide gentle language corrections in real time and help you phrase your arguments and rebuttals clearly and naturally.

3. After the lesson: I’ll provide comprehensive feedback so that you can review the work. There will also be optional homework with checks and additional feedback included.

This lesson can be taken 4 times in the 4-Lesson Simple Debate Pack. There are many different debate topics available, and we can steadily build on your debate skills with each lesson. You’ll also have the opportunity to choose your own topic.

Amber's lesson is a corrective experience for me in English self-expression and argument formulation. I wanted to access debate and critical thinking, but I found them intimidating; Amber made them very accessible by providing warm-up exercises and structured explanations. Seeing her typing the summaries of my sentences and hearing her explain her word choices helps me reflect on my ways of organising my thoughts. Also she is very mindful of making the framework and content safe, which helps massively. I look forward to further reflecting on this lesson and booking another one with her.

Her lesson was so interesting to me. She suggested some good expresstions that I can use to speak and arrange my word with correct English.
