90% of Self Defense is Awareness
This lesson will explain how we can avoid a confrontation around 90% of the time by developing our awareness

I have been studying various martial arts since I was a teenager, which means I have been training for over 30 years.
Quite a few experts in martial arts have said that 90% of self defense is awareness. What does this mean? It means that most of the time we can avoid a physical confrontation if we are fully aware of our environment and surroundings.
In my opinion, devloping awareness is the most valuable lesson a martial arts student can learn as it reduces your chances of needing to defend yourself by as much as 90%. That said, I still believe it is beneficial to learn a martial art because there will always be that remaining 10% that we have to prepare for.
In this lesson, I will explain awareness in detail. We will cover the following points:
# Awareness of our clothing such as incorrect footwear for running away and self defense
# Research about a country, city or local area which we need to visit before we begin our journey
# Preliminary checks on the area outside a building before we go outside
# Being aware of what is happening in front of us as we walk or travel by public transport
# taking necessary evasion measures when we see trouble beginning to happen
