									The purpose of this class is to develop self expression and vocabulary.  
So many conversations with foreigners in Japan involve comparisons between Japan and other countries. Can you explain Japanese culture to visitors to this country? Pick one of these topics, and I will ask you a number of questions about it. The questions will vary depending on your level.
Each topic includes a picture for description and each topic includes discussion about life in Japan in general. Feel free to introduce any other topics.
1. New Year - also discussing holidays, religion, shrines and temples
2. Sushi - food culture around the world - Are you a foodie?
3. Ryokan -the hospitality industry, tourism, hot springs
4. Sumo - and other sports, martial arts
5. Weddings - have they changed? family life
6. Tea Ceremony -Japanese flower arrangement, ceramics
7. Children's Day - Boys and girls, raising a child in Japan
8. Festivals - in Japan and around the world
9. Cherry Blossoms - seasons, symbols
10. Bon Odori - summer activities
