Let's discuss a world famous historical person originally from South Africa: Christiaan Barnard (1922-2001). Also known as Chris, he was the first surgeon to do a successful human heart transplant in 1967. He became an international celebrity.

During the lesson I will share an article as the starting point for the lesson. So this lesson will include a bit of article reading too. This discussion can also include some interesting or new vocabulary. As we discuss this famous surgeon, you can also learn more about South Africa as well. Christiaan Barnard's autobiography: "One Life" might also be a book that you are interested in.
