Speak Up in Meetings: Share Your Opinion & Disagree Politely

Want to feel more confident speaking English at work—not just studying it?

This is a practical, small-group Business English class where you will use English in realistic workplace situations, practice with other participants, receive feedback, and then try again.

This is not a lecture-style Business English lesson.

The goal is to help you speak, practice, adjust, and improve.

And because the class is limited to only four participants, everyone will have plenty of opportunities to speak.

After the lesson, every participant will also receive a personalized Lesson Review Sheet with individual feedback on their English.

Small group: 2–4 participants
Only 4 seats available

The class is intentionally limited to four participants so everyone can receive plenty of speaking time, roleplay practice, and individual feedback.

Once all four seats are reserved, registration will close.

CafeTalk's standard scheduling system is designed for private lessons, so this group class will appear as a:

when you make your request.

However, the actual lesson is a:

THIS MONTH'S TOPIC

Speak Up in Meetings: Share Your Opinion & Disagree Politely

We will practice useful Business English for situations such as:

  • giving your opinion in a meeting
  • agreeing while adding a different idea
  • disagreeing politely
  • asking follow-up questions
  • suggesting another option
  • responding professionally when you have a different opinion

You will receive language at different levels so you can choose expressions that feel comfortable for you.

For example:

Core

  • I think _____ because _____.
  • I agree, but _____.

Natural

  • From my perspective, _____.
  • I'm not sure I completely agree.

Challenge

  • I see where you're coming from. That said, _____.
  • I wonder whether we might want to consider _____ instead.

You do not need to memorize every expression.

Choose a few phrases that fit your level and focus on actually using them.

WHAT WILL WE DO?

During the lesson, you will:

  • learn practical Business English phrases
  • complete phrases with your own ideas
  • practice speaking before the main roleplay
  • participate in realistic workplace roleplays
  • ask and answer questions with other participants
  • receive corrections and natural English upgrades
  • repeat the skill in a new situation
  • complete a short timed speaking challenge

The focus is on student speaking time, not long teacher explanations.

PERSONALIZED FEEDBACK INCLUDED

Every participant will receive a personalized Lesson Review Sheet after the class.

Your review may include:

  • useful corrections from your speaking
  • more natural ways to express your ideas
  • useful vocabulary and expressions
  • an individual area to focus on next
  • speaking-speed data (WPM) from the timed speaking challenge

This gives you something concrete to review after class—not just a conversation that ends when Zoom closes.

MIXED-LEVEL SUPPORT

This lesson is designed to support learners from approximately lower-intermediate to high-intermediate level.

You do not need perfect English or advanced Business English.

Support will be available through:

  • sentence starters
  • fill-in-the-blank phrases
  • easier “Core” expressions
  • more natural “Natural” expressions
  • optional “Challenge” expressions for stronger speakers

You can participate successfully using simpler English while still challenging yourself at your own level.

If you are a beginner, you should be comfortable answering simple questions using short English sentences.

BEFORE THE LESSON

After your request is confirmed, I will ask you a few short questions about:

  • your English level
  • your job or industry
  • when you use English at work
  • your preferred support/translation language
  • Business English situations you find difficult

I will use this information to make the examples and roleplays more relevant to the participants.

You will also receive a lesson handout before class so you can preview the key phrases.

You do not need to memorize the material before class.

SMALL-GROUP FORMAT

This Roleplay Lab is intentionally limited to just 4 participants.

Class size: 2–4 participants
Only 4 seats available

A smaller class means:

  • more speaking time for you
  • more opportunities to practice
  • more interaction with other participants
  • more individual attention
  • more useful personalized feedback

Your personalized Lesson Review Sheet is included after the lesson.
