Learning English: functions
English phrases for certain situations - practical phrases for everyday
Description
When we speak in English, we can learn certain phrases for special sets of situations
Situations include: asking for things, giving your opinion, agreeing and disagreeing, making an excuse, saying no to something, asking for help, inviting people, making a complaint, making a suggestion, interrupting during a conversation, and thanking people.
The language we use can be different, depending on the people we are talking to, and how friendly or how formal the situation is.
This is called language functions.
In this lesson, we shall look at and practise these phrases. If you like, you can let me know before the lesson what kind of situation you are interested in.
After the lesson, I will send you a list of our phrases.
This is a very practical way to learn English and can be adapted to many different social situations.
