Objective:

  • To improve participants’ business English skills related to meetings and discussions.

Lesson Plan:

  1. Warm-Up (5 minutes)

    • brief discussion about the importance of effective communication in professional settings.
  2. Vocabulary Building (10 minutes)

    • Introduce key vocabulary related to meetings 
    • Use visuals or examples to reinforce understanding.
  3. Role-Play Activity (15 minutes)

    • Provide a scenario (e.g., a team meeting to discuss a new project).
    • Each pair takes turns playing the roles of a team leader and team member.
  4. Discussion: Effective Meeting Strategies (15 minutes)

    • Show a short video or share tips on effective meeting strategies (e.g., active listening, staying on topic, summarizing).
    • Discuss these strategies.
    • Ask participants to share their own tips for successful meetings.
  5. Memorandum Writing (10 minutes)

    • Explain the purpose of a memorandum (memo) and its common structure.
    • Provide a sample memo 
    • Ask participants to write a brief memo (e.g., summarizing the meeting, assigning action items).
  6. Activity: Analyzing a Memo (5 minutes)

    • Share a different memo (real or fictional)

    • Encourage participants to identify strengths and areas for improvement.
  7. Wrap-Up (5 minutes)

    • Recap the key points from the lesson.
    • Remind participants to practice effective communication in their professional lives.

  • Ask participants to write a short reflection on their own meeting experiences and how they plan to apply what they’ve learned.
