Objective: By the end of this lesson, students will be able to:

  1. Understand and apply business vocabulary.
  2. Compose and respond to professional emails.
  3. Engage in a business conversation and negotiation.

Warm-Up:

  • Begin with a brief discussion on the importance of effective communication in the business world.
  • Ask students to share their experiences with business communication.

Vocabulary and Phrases :

  • Present and discuss a list of key business vocabulary and phrases (e.g., "meeting agenda," "sales report," "deadline," "revenue," "collaboration").
  • Use the whiteboard to write down definitions and examples.
  • Encourage students to take notes.

Email Writing:

  • Provide a sample business email on the projector.
  • Discuss the structure and elements of a professional email (e.g., greeting, purpose, details, closing).
  • Ask students to write a brief professional email to a hypothetical client or colleague.
  • Provide feedback and tips on their emails.

Business Conversation:

  • Role-play a business conversation with a student, discussing a hypothetical scenario, such as a negotiation or client meeting.
  • Emphasize using the new vocabulary and phrases introduced earlier.

Feedback and Discussion:

  • Invite a couple of pairs to share their conversations with the class.
  • Discuss what went well and areas for improvement.
