Session 1: Introductions & Job Titles
Level: Intermediate (B1–B2)
Length: 25 minutes
Focus: Speaking, vocabulary, listening comprehension
Objective: Learn how to professionally introduce yourself and describe your job role
🕒 Lesson Breakdown
1. Warm-up: Small Talk (3 mins)
Goal: Break the ice using general professional questions.
Teacher asks:
- 
“Where do you work?” 
- 
“What do you do there?” 
- 
“Have you had a busy day?” 
2. Vocabulary & Phrases (5 mins)
Goal: Introduce key job-related vocabulary
Useful vocabulary:
- 
job title (e.g., Marketing Manager, Software Developer) 
- 
department (e.g., Sales, HR, Finance) 
- 
company structure (e.g., branch, headquarters, subsidiary) 
- 
tasks (e.g., manage, lead, coordinate, support, develop) 
Example phrases:
- 
“I work as a [Job Title] at [Company].” 
- 
“I’m in charge of…” 
- 
“My main responsibility is…” 
- 
“I report to…” 
3. Listening Practice (5 mins)
Goal: Understand how others introduce themselves professionally
Activity: Play or read a short intro script:
“Hi, I’m James. I’m the Sales Director at BlueTech. I lead a team of 12 people, and we handle international accounts.”
Student task:
- 
Identify: Name / Job Title / Company / Responsibility 
- 
Then repeat the script using their own details 
4. Speaking Practice (7 mins)
Goal: Personalize and practice their own professional introduction
Structure:
“Hello, I’m [Name], and I work as a [Job Title] at [Company]. I [verb + responsibility]. I usually work with [team, clients, tools].”
Activity:
- 
Practice twice—once casually, once in a formal tone (e.g., at a networking event) 
- 
Correct pronunciation, tense usage, and vocabulary 
5. Quick Roleplay (3 mins)
Scenario: Meet at a business conference
Instructions:
- 
Student and teacher take turns introducing themselves 
- 
Add a follow-up question (e.g., “What does your company specialize in?”) 
6. Wrap-up & Homework (2 mins)
Review:
- 
Vocabulary: job title, responsibilities, company structure 
- 
Speaking structure for introductions 
Homework:
- 
Write and record a 30-second professional self-introduction 
- 
Prepare 3 questions to ask someone about their job in the next session
