Kursinhalt

A meal

A meal is the time or occasion of eating food. Most people eat 3 meals – breakfast, lunch, and dinner (or supper).

Ask your partner:

How many meals do you eat per day?

What do you usually eat for breakfast?

What did you eat for dinner last night?

A dish

The word dish has 2 meanings:

  1. a physical object used to hold, cook, and serve food. When we talk about washing the dishes, we are washing the plates, bowls, pots, pans, spoons, forks, etc.

  1. food prepared in a specific way as part of a meal. A meal can include many dishes. It can be a heavy meal (a lot of food) or a light meal (a little bit of food)

Example: This restaurant has Japanese and Chinese dishes.

Tell your partner about a traditional dish or national dish from your country. Show a picture. Use this language:

This is _____________.

In this dish, there is __________ / there are ____________.

A snack: a little bit of food you eat between meals. For example, cookies, chips, chocolate,  nuts etc.

Do you eat snacks? How many snacks do you eat per day?

What kind of snacks do you eat?
