Learning the nuances of employing verb tenses
Description
Verb tenses in English are the predominant way of expressing nuance. English is a verb-oriented language. In this lesson we explore the ways of interpreting the various tenses so you can use them confidently in future and be sure that you are understanding what your conversation partner really means.
By looking at pairs of sentences with different tenses, we see the difference in their use. Then you practise using the tense in sentences that you make up yourself. This active learning process really anchors the new information in your mind.
We can focus on just one tense on the lesson or more than one, as you wish, although for an intense exploration of the nuance and practice, one may be enough. Subsequent lessons can then focus on other tenses.
