Can you find the clues, understand the evidence, and solve the mystery, all in English?

In this interactive lesson, your child becomes an English detective.

They'll read short clues, examine information, learn new vocabulary, answer questions, make predictions, and use their reasoning skills to work out what happened.

The mystery could involve a missing object, a secret message, a strange event, a mysterious character, or another age-appropriate case.

The goal isn't simply to find the answer.

Your child will need to use English to explain their thinking.

What we'll practise:

• Reading and understanding short texts and clues
• Learning vocabulary through context
• Finding important details
• Asking and answering questions
• Making predictions and logical inferences
• Explaining ideas in English
• Giving reasons for their answers
• Building confidence in spoken English
• Using English to solve a problem

By the end of the lesson, your child will:

✓ Have used English to investigate and solve an age-appropriate mystery
✓ Have practised reading for specific information
✓ Have developed their ability to use clues and evidence
✓ Have practised explaining their ideas in English
✓ Have learned useful vocabulary in an engaging context
✓ Have strengthened both their English and critical-thinking skills
