Why its status changed

Description

Target age group:  12 years old and above
(Intermediate level)

Early modern astronomers believed that the Solar System consisted nine planets because their technology back then was not powerful enough to observe important details.

With the advent of space-based telescopes, Pluto's status has changed.  But it is still part of our family--our Solar System.

In this lesson, we will watch a video about our dear dwarf planet, Pluto.

This is a lesson where the following skills are put to use:
-listening,
-reading comprehension,
-researching,
-vocabulary, and
-discussion

Warm up exercises include reading a short passage and understanding words related to the topic.  After watching the video, we are going to have a short discussion.
