Understanding native speakers

This lesson is for intermediate to advanced learners.
During this lesson we will practise listening skills. You do not have to speak English in this way, at least not yet. The focus is to recognise sounds, compared to how words are written. We will cover contractions, dropped consonants, dropped vowels, chunks, etc.
I will write down sentences in proper written English. I will read out each word as it is pronounced individually. Then I will read the sentence as it is spoken by a native English speaker. In this way you will see the difference between written and spoken English, and prepare your ears for what to expect when an native speaker talks to you.
