a lesson for enhancing reading and speaking skills
课程介绍
This is a lesson for enhancing reading and speaking skills. The main topic is traveling with a focus on Singapore.
- Warm-up exercise: quiz on famous places (I will show some pictures of famous places from all around the world and the student has to guess the country)
- Pre-reading phase: What do you know about Singapore? We cover some basic information about this country. We watch a short video and the student has to express his/her impressions about Singapore based on the video.
- First reading phase: The student has to read the first part of the article about Singapore. We discuss the unknown words. There is an exercise at the end. The student has to connect the words to their definitions.
- Second reading phase: The student reads the second part. (out loud of course) Discussion of unknown words. Exercise: True or False
- Third reading phase: The student reads the last part of the text. Discussion of unknown words. Exercise: give titles to the passages and match the place names to the pictures.
- Listening exercise: We listen to a video which is about the advantages of traveling. The student has to summarise the video.
- Speaking: Discussion about traveling. I will ask different questions, and the student can describe his/her personal experiences.
