Description

In this reflective discussion class, we’ll explore ideas from Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer—a book that reminds us of our deep connection to nature. Together, we’ll read a short, accessible passage (“Even a wounded world is feeding us…”) and discuss what it means to choose joy and to return the gift, even when the world feels hurt.

You’ll practice expressing complex emotions and abstract ideas in English while learning new vocabulary such as wounded, joy, despair, gratitude, and healing. We’ll also discuss how caring for nature can bring calm and meaning to our own lives.

What we’ll do:

  • Read and discuss a short passage from Braiding Sweetgrass

  • Learn emotional and environmental vocabulary

  • Share personal reflections and opinions in English

  • Discuss ways to "return the gift."

You’ll gain:

Deeper cultural understanding through literature
Confidence in speaking about personal and global topics
