esson Description: Writing Different Types of Essays
Objective: Students will learn to identify and write three types of essays: Opinion Essays, Both Sides + Opinion Essays, and Two Question Essays. They will understand the structure and develop clear arguments for each essay type.
Overview:
- Opinion Essay: Students will practice presenting and supporting a clear opinion.
- Both Sides + Opinion Essay: Students will explore both sides of an argument and express their own opinion.
- Two Question Essay: Students will answer two related questions in an organized manner.
Method:
- Introduction: Discuss each essay type and its structure.
- Modeling: Review examples and highlight key features.
- Guided Practice: Analyze essays and identify structural elements.
- Independent Practice: Students will write short essays for each type.
- Conclusion: Summarize key points and address questions.
Assessment:
Students will write essays and participate in peer reviews. Homework will involve writing one essay of each type.
