Pirouette & Pencil is a creative movement-to-art experience where students begin as dancers and end as artists. In the first half of class, we step into ballet practice with gentle warm-ups, basic barre work, and playful traveling combinations that build coordination, posture, and musical awareness. Dancers are encouraged to imagine lines, shapes, and storytelling through movement.
In the second half, we transition from studio floor to sketchbook. Students observe ballerina artwork and reference poses, then create their own drawings using pencils, crayons, or mixed media. The focus is expression over perfection, translating movement into line, gesture, and form.
Each class closes with a short sharing circle where students can show their artwork and reflect on how dancing became drawing.
