スペインに住むことが決まってスペイン語会話の本を買って自学を始めました。その後文法が必要になって文法の本を買ってまた自学。さらに表現を高めたいと思い、構文・表現方法の本を買ってまた自学といった具合です笑。私の場合、スペイン語を話す最高の環境にいた（スペインに住んでいた）ということは大きいです。なので外国語の上達には地道な勉強と、その語学環境をどれだけつくれるかが重要ですね。あとはモチベーション。こちらに来て当初、自分の思いを伝えられなくて本当に悔しい思いをしました。言葉が話せない・伝わらない無力感を痛感したのが今でも私のモチベーションのベースになっています。

対面式レッスンですと地元の生徒様たちに教えることになりますが、オンラインレッスンでは日本を含む世界中に滞在している生徒さま、且つ子供、大人、初級からかなりの上級者まで様々な方々がレッスンをお申込みになることになります。難しいことではありますが、同時にとても貴重な経験をさせて頂いていると思います。数年前まではオンラインで英語講師をするという職業は想像もしていなかったのですが、この形式ですと私のような小さい子供のいる母親でも自宅からお仕事をすることが可能です。こう考えると、自分の娘が成人したときは本当にどんな社会になっているか全く想像ができないので、今から色んな可能性にflexibleに対応できるような教育をしていくことが本当に大切であるなと痛感します。英語はその中でも最低限押さえておきたい内容ですよね。

There are a variety of different English course books I have collected over the years and I have learnt to adapt and try to get the best out of each different coursebook. In these lessons I give my students a link to a webpage when we start the lesson – they will then see all material needed for the lesson within that link and we work through the lesson together.

Thank you for welcoming me into the Cafetalk community. I’ve enjoyed the lessons I’ve had with all of the interesting people I’ve met. It’s fascinating to hear what people do for their work and try to help them reach their goals. I like helping each student by finding out what they need to make their job easier. いつもありがとうございます。カフェトーク様の生徒様は本当に熱心で意識の高い方が多いと思います。現地の学校ではフルタイムのコースですのでドSっぷりを発揮して口うるさい私ですが、カフェトークでは日中働いている方が多いですので、ご自身のペースで進めていただければいいと思います。ただし、復習は必ずしてくださいね！これからはますます、世界と対等に渡り合っていく「大人のライティング力」「正確にニュアンスまで伝える発信力」が必要とされる時代だと感じていますが、遠いカナダから一人でも多くの日本人の方をサポートしたいと願っています。一緒にがんばりましょう。

My name is Barbara and I’m 34 years old. I’m from Bahia Blanca, Argentina. I’m a journalist and an English teacher. I teach lessons for different levels and ages, although most of my students are adults. I prepare the materials according to the student’s needs and requirements. Most people want to improve their conversation skills, so we talk about different issues or we read articles from magazines or newspapers and discuss them.

Just by making the effort to be with us at Cafetalk and better your English, whether that is for reading or writing or conversation or whatever you goals are, is a big thing that will help you to get where you want to be.

My main message for my students is to keep using the language on a daily basis – even ten to twenty minutes of private study is better than nothing! Don’t be afraid of making mistakes either – grammar is important, but communication is the key!
