Hello. I'm Masako Mori.
I think that even among Japanese people, not many have heard the sounds of the Shamisen before. But you'd like to give a listen, right?
Perhaps you're interested because your family has a shamisen lying around at home, but you're not sure how to practice it or carry it around with you when commuting to a shamisen school.
I created these lessons to help you take your first step towards becoming a shamisen player.
Shamisen can generally be divided into three categories: futozao (fat neck), chuzao (middle neck), and hosozao (thin neck). The techniques and tools that you use to play different songs and genres vary (Okinawa's shamisens are considered a different genre).
In my lessons, we will be using a hosozao shamisen to play long epic songs. During the first lesson, I will explain to you what to prepare, so if you don't have an instrument yet, please start gathering what you need afterwards. If you don't necessarily want to go out and buy a shamisen, I can't teach you how to play it, however, if you just want to learn more about the instrument, I can definitely accommodate you.
