ABOUT ME (Both Personal and Professional Journey)

*My real name is Judy Ann, a famous actress name in the Philippines when I was born. My mother who was a big fan of that celebrity, named me after her. However, you may call me Teacher Judy, or Judy for short.

*I was born and raised in Southern Luzon of the Philippines which is called, Region V (Bicolano Region). I currently live in Akita, Japan.

*I am interested to Local News (both Japan and the Philippines) and International/Global News. I am not good at cooking, however I'm trying to learn how to cook Japanese and Filipino dishes at home (easy ones like Tempura Udon, Ramen, Yakisoba, Soy Milk Soup, Chicken and Pork Adobo, sisig, pork steak). I have been to some prefectures in Japan, such as, Akita, Tokyo, Kanagawa, Chiba, Saitama, and Iwate (I actually wanted to visit all 47 prefectures if I can).

*I speak 3 languages namely; Bicol and Filipino/Tagalog (my mother tounge), English (second language). The 4th language I'm studying is Japanese (I can only speak a little Japanese. I can read Hiragana and a few katakana as well with a very slow speed).

*Why do I have to study Japanese and live in Japan? My husband is Japanese.

*I studied Political Science in College because my father wanted me to become a lawyer. However, I love teaching so I pursue this career after my graduation.

*I passed the Licensure Examination (Board Exam) for Professional Teachers in 2018. Then, I tried going to graduate school for 2 years but I haven't finished my Masters Degree yet. It's Master of Art in Education major in Social Studies.

*I taught Senior High School and College Students for 4 years (2018 - 2022). I handled subjects in areas of Social Studies, Filipino, and English.

*I was 20 years old when I started teaching. I am actually small (about 152 cm height). Some of my students were taller than me or even older than me. (Please enjoy looking at the photos below.)

*I'm an ESL Tutor from 2020. I taught English online to Japanese, Koreans, Taiwanese and Chinese. Most of my students are Japanese.

ABOUT MY LESSONS AND TEACHING STYLES

*I am currently offering
English conversation lessons and Tagalog Basics + Free Talk. (Honestly, these lessons provide lesser preparation for me and for my students. It's more on practicing or applying the language to real life situations while having fun.)

*My lessons are available for teenagers to adults and from beginner to advance level (please feel free to inquire).

*I've been using Student-Centered Approach
to Learning. In this approach, both the teacher and the student play an active role in the learning process. However, it's a case to case basis. If the students' level is Intermediate or Advance, most of the time, my role as a teacher, is just to become a facilitator (a guide) during the learning process.

*I am a flexible and very considerate teacher. I adjust my lessons and teaching styles depending on my students' individual needs. So please, just be yourself in the class. Don't be afraid to make mistakes.

*As a language learner, myself, I prefer a friendly learning environment. So, I create the same atmosphere in my class. I am very friendly and easy-to-talk to. I respect my students beliefs and point-of-views, so feel free to share.

Thank you for getting to know me by reading my profile, I want to get to know you too and listen to your language goals.

Hope to See You in my class! (English)
Sana makita po kita sa aking klase! (Tagalog)

Sana mahiling taka sa satong klase!
(Bicol)
私のクラスでお会いできるのを楽しみにしています! (Japanese)
