Hello! My name is UC, pronounced like the English letters “U” and “C.”

Presenting my original research at Harvard University
As a native English speaker and academic tutor, I specialize in university-level English, academic writing, presentations, professional communication, and international studies for native and near-native Anglophones. I enjoy helping motivated students who want to communicate more clearly, write more effectively, and develop the confidence needed for academic and professional environments. Every lesson is tailored to your goals, background, and level.

My Teaching Approach
Students have described my teaching style as both relaxed and approachable while remaining academically rigorous, a bit of an oxymoron, perhaps. Lessons are adapted to your individual needs. As an experienced language learner, I understand the challenges involved in developing fluency, improving pronunciation, remembering vocabulary, and communicating confidently in another language. In addition to my native English, I speak French, Spanish, Korean, German, Russian, Italian, Japanese, and Swedish. This allows me to explain English from a learner’s perspective rather than relying only on intuition as a native speaker. My lessons are especially suitable for university and graduate students, researchers, professionals, study-abroad applicants, and advanced learners who want thoughtful, detailed, and personalized instruction.
Interests
Outside teaching and research, I enjoy reading, writing, traveling, scuba diving, distance running, cooking, baking, surfing, playing the ukulele, and studying foreign languages.
