Hello! My name is StephanieRiann, I`m originally from Nova Scotia, Canada but now make my home in Kanagawa, Japan with my Japanese husband.
I am currently accepting a LIMITED amount of new students who are interested in taking specific kinds of lessons listed below --If you are interested in any of my classes I recommend taking my counselling session class first so we can discuss what you are looking for, and I can advise on which classes will best suit your needs to achieve your learning goals. I am currently teaching: Singing lessons in English, Reading lessons (with a focus on speaking about the topic, reading aloud articles or novels/short stories together working on expanding vocabulary and working on pronunciation), casual/ relaxed conversation, proofreading etc. For my customizable classes please contact me in advance before booking or take my counselling class to discuss what you are looking for and if I can help you.
I had been teaching English lessons for 3 years (2017-2020) at a leading English school in Japan where I had received extensive training in teaching English. Currently, I am also doing volunteer work teaching English at my local community centre twice a month here in Japan. In Canada, I volunteered to help Japanese people in the city of Toronto learn English through daily conversation or help them study for the TOEIC exam.
I have two undergraduate degrees from Acadia University in Nova Scotia and a Master of Music degree from the University of Ottawa in Canada. I have multiple EP and LP albums available on all digital music retailers sites worldwide (under my former performing name
Stephanie Coldwell-Anderson, East n`West Canadian band as lead singer) and my final album
Ultralife was released in August 2019. I`m currently taking a long-term break from performing life and songwriting/arrangement collaborations. I am currently working on a music project that I hope I will be able to share with my Cafetalk community in the coming year. I have been the recipient of a FACTOR/Government of Canada recording grant for my original children's songs on my album entitled ADVENTURER. I am also a member of SOCAN (the
Society of
Composers, Authors and Music
Publishers) of
Canada.
I have been teaching music (voice, piano, theory and songwriting) for over 15 years (in Canada) where I had thriving in-home studios in the provinces of Nova Scotia and Ontario as well as at the private music school Merriam Music in Toronto, Ontario. In Canada, I was also a Registered Music Teacher with ORMTA (Ontario Registered Music Teachers Association). I continued teaching music (English through singing) in Japan by volunteering at my local community centre until Feb 2020. I am now continuing my passion for teaching singing through Cafetalk.
Teaching is one of my passions and I wish to bring joy to people of all ages through learning music and/or English. When I`m not teaching my hobbies are trying to improve and continue learning Japanese, doing Japanese culture/music experiences, cooking, hiking, travelling and camping with my husband. ( see more pictures below)
I aim to make my lessons fun and energetic, with a relaxed atmosphere. I also believe if you laugh you`re learning so let`s have a good time. Lessons are available right away or as trial lessons, this is the student's choice. Currently, my English and music lessons are geared towards all age groups. English lessons are customized by level, Introductory, Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced as well as free talk classes.
Let`s work together as a team and have fun learning!
I look forward to meeting you soon!
My lessons are a safe space for LGBTQIA+ -- I am an Ally of this community of people.
