Hello everyone!
I’m Yara!

About me:
I am a professional English teacher and linguist, editor and writer, and opera singer. I have a North American accent but I've lived in the UK for a long time, so I am also aware of UK dialect/grammar and differences between these two. I have just completed my Masters in Applied Linguistics for Language Teaching at the University of Oxford. I’m always trying to use my learnings in class to help you as a learner!
Teaching Style:
I am also a student, and I get nervous, so I fully understand the difficulties of learning a language. I also know how to overcome some of these difficulties.
I like to provide a gentle atmosphere where you can feel comfortable, and my goal is for you to talk as much as possible, and for me to listen. I am also happy to answer questions if you want to ask questions and practice listening.
Method:
The method depends on your goals and needs - from using textbooks to TedTalks to academic English. In general, I like to correct major mistakes and usually prefer to give about three major mistakes and how to fix them in detail. I find that it is more useful than correcting many small mistakes. However, if you prefer that I correct you as much as possible, please let me know, and I’m happy to do that too.
I can send corrections via Word doc, on Cafetalk’s chat, or, if you plan to have consistent lessons, on Google Docs. Please let me know if you have a preference.
Finally, if you are interested in taking classes repeatedly, I am happy to give you homework.
Atmosphere:
I think I am kind and do my best to have a gentle atmosphere, and aim to help you to the best of my abilities!
My hobbies:
I love yoga, meditation, reading, cooking, Japanese calligraphy, eating plant-based/vegan, exercising, learning about Buddhism, and traveling. I’m very into K-drama and anime/manga too!
