Hi, I'm Dr. Ezra Harker Shaw,
I'm a London-based writer and educator with passion for helping individuals develop their skills. I believe there is always something new to learn, and we never stop studying and exploring the world.
I am an award-winning novelist with a PhD and every day I am learning something new. I have been teaching and tutoring for over fifteen years, working freelance, online, in schools, in universities, in libraries, in book festivals, and at poetry events.
Here I am running one of my poetry workshops in London. So many wonderful poets came along, it was great to read their work!
My debut novel, The Aziola's Cry, was about Mary Shelley and Percy Bysshe Shelley and won the IBPA award for historical fiction. I now work with Selkie Songs Publishing as their literary editor, and as a mentor of writers emerging and established.
I have a doctorate in English & Creative Writing, and I am a published poet and academic, not to mention a voracious reader.
Here I am in my doctoral robes the day I was awarded my PhD. I wrote about Mary Shelley and Percy Bysshe Shelley for my thesis - which was 100,000 words long.
Besides Literature my other great love is art. Every week I go to one of London's many art galleries and spend time with a great artwork. My house is full of paintings and I find making art is incredibly relaxing. I've illustrated several poetry books, and enjoy sharing my love of art with students. Currently I am teaching art to high school students two days a week and loving it.

When not tutoring I work in the arts (writing and theatre mostly) and teach courses in creative writing at university. I grew up in Scotland, but now live in London where I enjoy walking in the city parks with my wonderful dog River and my lovely partner.
