Hello! My name is Kathy, and I’m a native English speaker from South Africa. I have a degree in English and a certificate in teaching English as a foreign language. I previously worked as a nurse for 12 years and later, as a software developer in the supply chain management and financial industries.  

My goal is to help you become a better listener and a more confident speaker, through a combination of clear, simple grammar explanations, engaging activities and guided speaking practice. 


Structure-based Lesson Plans 

Choose your lessons according to the structures or topics you would like to focus on. 

A typical lesson will consist of 25% structure (grammar) and 75% speaking and listening. I will meet you where you are, and challenge you to go a little higher with each class. I will adjust the content and materials of the lesson according to your needs, using more prompts and images at elementary level.

After the lesson

You will receive some friendly feedback, a summary of the lesson and some practice material.

Cafetalk's cancellation policy

Before request is confirmed (fixed)

  • Cancellation possible at any time without charge.

(Not applicable for “Immediate Confirmation” lessons)

After request is confirmed (fixed)

  • More than 24 hours before lesson start time.→ Cancellation is possible at any time.
  • Less than 24 hours before lesson start time.→ The tutor may take a cancellation fee.
  • No-Show→ The tutor may take a cancellation fee.
