Bonjour ! je m’appelle David, je viens de Paris. I’d love to teach you French!
I didn’t really enjoy studying languages until I was 22, in fact I loathed it. Somewhere along the line, I became interested in the Japanese language, so I decided to quit my job and enroll in a Japanese Language Department at the University of Paris. I devoted myself to studying Japanese, and I also studied abroad at Fukuoka University. When I studied abroad, I was able to make peace with English, which I had never been good at before, and became fascinated with the language as well as in the Japanese language. After garduating, I returned to Fukuoka and my current job is to promote not only French language but also French culture. In fact, it’s more than a job, it’s a part of my life, and it’s a very important mission for me.
I have heard students say many times that learning languages is difficult or don’t work well at all. The truth is that learning languages is actually easy and enjoyable. However, there are two things that are irreplaceable.
The first one is time. You won’t become fluent in an instant, and sometimes it’s a challenge. However, there is no reason that you can’t improve if you give it time.
The second is admiration. If you are not interested in it, it will be difficult to improve. At one point, the language itself is the object of study, but it will gradually become a tool. It can be used in various ways, such as for communication or to deepen your knowledge. This should start from day one. If you are interested in it, you can feel relaxed, have fun, and improve your personal qualities.
My favorite part about teaching is seeing the look on a student’s face when they finally understand or can pronounce something they have been practicing for a long time.
If I were to explain what kind of a tutor I would like to have, I would say that the best tutors are those who follow up with questions and riddles until the student understands, rather than giving the answer right away, and those who can help the student learn how to do things and hints so that they can study on their own.
Let’s get started.
