Hello there! Teacher Mar here! It’s a pleasure to meet you!
About me:
I’m from California, USA, born and raised. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Physiology and Neuroscience from the University of California, San Diego. During my studies, I also offered English tutoring services on the side. I’m TEFL certified, as well as certified in IELTS, TOEFL, and TOEIC preparation.
I am an avid animal lover, and I am the proud owner of six adorable dogs, whom I love dearly. Some of my hobbies include: playing with said dogs; arts and crafts, like felting and drawing; playing video games; watching animated shows and movies; traveling to different countries; trying new foods, especially if they are spicy; and, of course, teaching English.
Over the years, I have had the privilege to travel to different countries, such as Belgium, Germany, Japan, Luxembourg, Mexico, and the Netherlands. I have always been fascinated by diverse cultures and the learning opportunities they provide. Teaching English as a second language enables me not only to assist my students in achieving their language learning goals but also to expand our knowledge and cultural horizons by learning from each other.
About my lessons:
I strive to create an engaging and personalized learning environment by incorporating my students' passions and hobbies into my lessons whenever possible. This approach makes learning more relatable, enjoyable, and effective. My classes are practice-oriented and stress-free, ensuring my students can use the language actively and engage in an enjoyable and meaningful learning experience.
By having conversations and activities revolving around topics and themes that are of interest to my students, they can gradually and naturally improve their skills in a lesson that is tailored specifically to them. I'm a firm believer that learning can be fun and engaging for students of all backgrounds. By the way, if you are a Spanish speaker, I can also provide answers and explanations in Spanish if necessary!
I teach my lessons fully in English! I believe that my students benefit the most from using the language rather than just hearing and reading about it. So, my teaching approach involves having as much English practice as possible in a stress-free and engaging environment.
Whether it is conversational English, grammar, or test preparation, it doesn’t have to be impersonal, tedious, or scary. I can help you achieve your goals in a comfortable, professional, and safe environment.

For now, I’ll be conducting lessons primarily through Google Meet or Microsoft Teams. Zoom is also acceptable! Lattep doesn't work well for my lessons, unleess it is Camera OFF and no screen-sharing.
