Greetings! My name is Gannon.
I’m a native English speaker with a background in linguistics, speech pathology, and professional communication. I help adult learners improve clarity, pronunciation, and confidence in real-world English — especially in professional and academic settings.
My approach is calm, structured, and practical. I focus on helping students communicate clearly and accurately.

A little about myself~
I love learning and am always reading books on topics I enjoy.

I have a 9 year old Korat cat named Cinder who’s been through a lot of trying times with me.

I have a specialty fishing lure business that is a wonderful creative outlet and provides great connections with customers all over America.

I live in a small town and love hiking, running, bicycling, and weightlifting. I also like playing guitar, building things, learning piano, and Zwifting! (Look it up)
I love life and try to live as fully as possible. I’ve had an eclectic background having graduated from a fire academy and was briefly a firefighter, as well as having been trained in the medical field as an EMT prior to going to a university.
I look forward to meeting students from diverse backgrounds and providing help and connection in whatever ways I can!

Teaching Background~
While my background is not in traditional classroom teaching, my training and experience are deeply rooted in language, communication, and applied English.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in both Linguistics and Communication Sciences & Disorders (speech pathology), along with a TESOL certification (2010) and TESOL recertification (2025). My academic training includes phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, language acquisition, and speech transcription, as well as anatomical studies and the neurophysiology behind speech production.
In addition, I spent over a decade working in the dental industry, including more than eight years owning and operating my own dental laboratory. This experience gave me extensive exposure to professional, technical, and client-facing communication, as well as collaboration with dentists, staff, and suppliers in high-precision environments.
Because of this background, I am especially effective at helping professionals, students, and advanced learners improve their spoken English for work, exams, and real-life communication — not just casual conversation.
⸻
Teaching Style~
My teaching style is analytical, precise, and supportive. I tailor each lesson to the student’s goals, level, and communication needs.
A key strength of my approach is pronunciation training. I use linguistic tools such as the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) to help students clearly understand and correct pronunciation patterns. With my background in speech transcription, I can identify specific sound errors and guide students toward measurable improvement.
Lessons may include:
•Pronunciation and accent clarity
•Listening and speaking accuracy
•Professional and workplace communication
•Academic or exam-related English
•Medical, dental, or technical English (when relevant)
•General conversation with structured feedback
I work best with motivated adult learners who want clear explanations, practical guidance, and steady improvement. My goal is to help students communicate with confidence, precision, and professionalism.
I'm also down to chat in a relaxed setting about whatever you may be interested in! Thanks for reading, I'd love to hear from you.
