Hi
My name is Celine, and I am an English teacher and a musician from South Africa. I am very excited to be offering English lessons as well as guitar lessons on this platform, and I look forward to sharing my knowledge with you.
I am a native English speaker and I have successfully completed my TEFL Level 5 Diploma which gave me a comprehensive outlook on teaching English to foreign learners. I am very passionate about languages in general and I am currently trying to learn a few new languages myself, including Japanese, Korean, and Swedish (Though I only know a few basic phrases and words for now).
I have completed tertiary studies in performing arts (with a focus on singing, acting and writing), as well as additional courses in marketing. I have been playing guitar for almost 15 years and I have completed my Grade 8 exams for electric guitar as well as bass guitar. I love teaching beginners how to play.
Whether it's English or music lessons, I love using my creativity to produce interesting lessons that will help you reach your goals. I know that everyone is different and learns at a different pace, so I will tailor the lessons to what your needs are and focus on what you need to learn and make sure that it is an enjoyable experience. Learning a new skill can be exciting and fun!
For English, I like to focus on conversational practice that will be useful in everyday life (eg. How to order food at a restaurant), and equip you with the vocabulary that you will need. I will also offer free talk lessons covering various topics.
For guitar lessons, I am looking to teach beginners. I will teach you the basic chords and strumming techniques and help you to learn your favourite songs. We will mainly work on pop and rock style music, but if you are interested in learning songs from other genres you are welcome to ask.
A couple of important "rules" to note:
For English and music lessons:
*Due to the nature of my lessons, turning your camera ON is expected and required. If you do not have a camera or can't turn video on, please refrain from requesting my lessons.
*Recording the lesson is prohibited.
For guitar students:
*It is required that you bring your own guitar to your lesson so that I can properly instruct you on how to play.
*You are welcome to use an electric or an acoustic guitar for the lesson. If you use electric, please try to plug it into an amplifier so that I can hear you when you play.
*As I will be teaching the lessons in English, I require all guitar students to be able to speak at least a basic level of English so that we can communicate effectively. If you are not comfortable speaking English yet, please refrain from requesting guitar lessons until you are at a more comfortable speaking level.
I hope to see you in class soon!
