Introduction and About me!

Hello! My name is Josh and I am from Wales in the UK! I have been living in Japan for almost one year and during this time I have been teaching English to people both in my professional and private life. I have lived in both Iwate (岩手県) and currently live in Tokyo (東京都), I have been learning Japanese for about 3 years all self-taught through the internet! So I completely understand the struggles of learning a language and ways of tackling them! I have loved speaking with people in the local communities near me and as such I have helped people from ages 2-95 to learn English! I used to help out at a local English club in Iwate (岩手県) when I lived there in my free time alongside my work at an 英会話.

I started learning Japanese and moved to Japan because of my hobbies! I really love music, playing the piano, martial arts, video games (especially fighting games), anime and all other kinds of things. Because of these hobbies I started learning Japanese and through this time I came to understand a lot more about the English language and aspects that make it so interesting to learn and use. English is ever evolving and changing so learning how to learn and enjoy yourself whilest doing it is core to learning the language in my opinion.

My currently Japanese level is around N3-N2 so if you feel the need to use Japanese to converse that is okay, though I would recommend trying as hard as possible to use English so that you can figure out new words and how to deal with new situations. 



Education and Experience

In terms of education, I graduated Swansea Unviersity with a bachelors of science in Criminology and Psychology, my experience in Psychology especially has helped to give me great educational, speaking and listening skills to benefit both Counselling and Language education. 

Beyond this my employment career and awards looks like this:
  • A TEFL qualification certifying over 120+hrs of content completed
  • A scholarship with University for high attained grades
  • Experience working in 英会話, Kindergartens (幼稚園), Online, and running private English clubs.
  • Experience making personalized lesson plans
  • Experience with teaching people of all ages and all levels
