Teacher JPN 講師的自我介紹

Hello! Konnichiwa! I’m Teacher JPN, a former flight attendant who used to work for a foreign airline!
English conversation & English lessons for beginners
I also teach Japanese language lessons ◎

I received 3rd place in the English Most Repeated Rankings (in the Cafetalk Rankings)

I’ve also been featured in the Japanese Language Rankings ◎

As a conversational English and Japanese language tutor, I offer “gentle, fun, and practical lessons!”

I’ve lived abroad in Singapore and the Middle East, where I worked with local people using English.
Through those experiences, I’ve come to appreciate “the joy of learning a language” and “the excitement of communicating across cultures!“♪

Since I used to work as an international flight attendant,
I’ve communicated in English with crew members and passengers from all over the world!
I’m able to teach Japanese while using English, and I offer lessons where English speakers can learn with confidence (*‘▽’)

[In My Japanese Lessons]
・I can offer lessons in English
・Lessons tailored to your goals
・A relaxed and enjoyable experience

[In My English Lessons] 〜 English Conversation for Beginners 〜
・As long as you have junior high school-level English, you’re fine!
・You can ask questions in Japanese
・Short 15 and 25 minute lessons that make it easy to practice speaking

Let’s discover the “joy of speaking English” together!

About myself…
Studying abroad in Australia during college was a turning point for me that inspired me to take English conversation seriously!
After that, I worked as a flight attendant for international airlines in Singapore and Qatar, where I honed my English conversation skills through communication with crew members and passengers from all over the world.

But the truth is, I didn’t start speaking English fluently until I entered college.
Before that, I wasn’t even able to speak English. I’d get so nervous around English speakers that I couldn’t even get a word out… that’s how bad it was.
That’s exactly why I understand so well how language learners feel when they think, “I want to be able to speak English, but I can’t seem to take that first step,” or “I don’t know where to start.”

You don’t have to be perfect to get your point across, and that’s the beauty of English!

Have you heard of the comedian, Degawa-san, who stars on the TV show “世界の果てまでイッテQ! (Sekai no Hatemade Itte Q)“?
His “Degawa English” style involves stringing together words he knows to keep the conversation flowing, and his determination to get his point across, even when he makes mistakes, is truly amazing, isn’t it?

Actually, what really matters in English conversation is precisely that desire to “get your point across.”
Even if your English isn’t perfect, there are plenty of times when your message comes across clearly to the other person.

I experienced this many times while working at a foreign airline.
For instance, my colleagues from India spoke English very fluently, but it wasn’t uncommon for their pronunciation or grammar to be slightly off. Yet, no one really minded, and the conversations still went smoothly. (In contrast, many Japanese people tend to hesitate when speaking English because they strive for perfection.)

In other words, when it comes to English, “getting your point across” is far more important than “speaking well.”

That’s exactly why, in my lessons, I emphasize that “English doesn’t have to be perfect” and “just give it a try.”

\Here’s what I prioritize in my lessons!/

・Being able to only understand junior high school-level English is fine!

・You can speak in Japanese too! I create an atmosphere where it’s easy to ask questions.

・“Degawa English” is more than welcome! Just give it a try.

・Short 15 and 25 minute lessons, perfect for people with busy schedules!

・Lessons designed to improve your “communication skills”✨

Rather than forcing yourself to memorize difficult expressions, it’s more important to figure out how to get your point across using the words you already know.
Even if you feel intimidated by English, let’s build your confidence by accumulating small successes, such as moments when you think, “Oh, they understood me!” or “I was actually able to say that!”

This is the mindset I have when offering lessons

These days, the number of international visitors coming to Japan for tourism, as well as foreigners living here, is growing rapidly.
Being able to speak English not only allows you to converse casually with these people,
but also naturally helps you develop the “ability to express your thoughts” and get a “broader worldview.”

Furthermore, we’re entering an era where opportunities to use English in business and daily life will continue to grow.
That’s exactly why taking the first step of relaxing and simply “giving it a try” is so important.

In my lessons, I provide gradual, gentle, yet solid support so that even beginners can feel confident speaking out loud.♪

Here’s a little peek into my interests and hobbies.♪

Please take a look if you have a moment~!

[Things I Love and My Hobbies]
・Taking walks in parks with lush greenery

I love nature. I grew up in the countryside, and as a kid, I used to go out to catch rhinoceros beetles (Kabuto-mushi) and stream crabs (Sawa-gani). I also love swimming.♪
・Delicious alcoholic beverages and food
I love beer and wine, of course, but I also enjoy sake and whiskey!
・Favorite Movies

Top Gun and Titanic

・Favorite Animals
Dogs! I used to have an American Cocker Spaniel and a Shetland Sheepdog. I’d love to have one now, but… I haven’t been able to. (‘_’)
・Favorite Snacks
I definitely love nori-shio potato chips the most! Especially the big sizes!

What do all of you like?
Please be sure to tell me during our lessons!
