Hi! I'm U.C. (like 'U' 'C' in the English alphabet).
Education:
I have a Master of Science in International Relations from the University of Edinburgh.
In France, I studied in a Master 1 program in Études internationales et européennes (International and European Studies) at the Université de Strasbourg.
My Bachelor of Arts degree was in Political Science and History (double major) from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
In addition to my traditional degrees, I also have certifications and specialized certificates from:
Duke University: Specialized Certificate in Statistics with R
Stanford University: Advanced Game Theory
東京大学: Game Theory
연세대학교: Korean Politics
Johns Hopkins University: R Programming
Teaching Experience and Certifications:
Before working in government-related fields, I acquired extensive teaching experience as a University Lecturer, International School Teacher/Administrator, English Academy Instructor, and Private Tutor.
In the United States, I worked as a tutor for University students through GUTS (Greater University Tutoring Service) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
My teaching qualifications include a TESOL Certificate and TEFL Business English Certificate.
Language Learning Experience:
English is my native language, but I also speak French, Korean, German, Spanish, Japanese, Russian, Italian, and Swedish. As a language aficionado and experienced language learner, I know the techniques (and struggles!) of learning a new language to a proficient or fluent level. My experience as a fellow language learner will help you achieve your linguistic goals.
Hobbies and Interests:
My interests are varied. In my free time, I enjoy reading, writing, cooking, baking, drawing/painting, playing the ukulele, and running full marathons. I am interested in international relations, politics, psychology, history, and economics. My hobbies also include scuba diving and traveling.

Conversational English:
My past students have described my teaching style as fun, yet serious. Perhaps a bit of an oxymoron, but I teach in a professional, precise manner, taking note of the minutest of details, should the student wish, to truly fine-tune his or her English. Yet, I incorporate flexibility, practicality, and fun into each lesson. As I've lived and studied in the UK, I can help students with American and British English.
TOEFL iBT and other English exams: In addition to basic conversational English, I'm interested in tutoring those interested in passing qualifying examinations, such as the TOEFL iBT. I have taken the TOEFL iBT, and, unsurprisingly, obtained a perfect score (120 out of 120).
Thank you! I look forward to studying with you!
U C
