Yanina Yu Tutor Profile

Thank you for navigating to my profile, out of all those available.
Hello, my name is Yanina Yu. Please call me Yanina.(^J^)
Currently I live in Tokyo, but am originally from China.
I'm in my 9th year since coming to Japan, and in that time I've been an exchange student (I placed 2nd out of 120 people in the college), a graduate student and now I'm a company worker.
I look forward to getting to know you.

In university I entered the Japanese department with a Japanese level of zero, and studied everything from grammar
to traditional Japanese culture. During my 2nd year as a university student, I obtained my Japanese Language Proficiency Test level 1 (the highest level).
★I really understand what it feels like to start learning a language from scratch.
 I have a self-study method, so if we have the opportunity, I'd like to share it with you.

While being an exchange student and graduate student, I started living in Japan for the first time and improved my daily conversation power.
I was able to experience and savour the joy of learning a foreign language in its natural environment.
★I'd absolutely love to talk about this with all of you.
 Since you've chosen to study Chinese, I recommend you do things like travelling to China, watching Chinese TV dramas and speaking with Chinese people.
During my time as a graduate student, I gained experience by being a short term HSK exam supplementary lesson teacher, and have experience proctoring HSK level 3, 4 and 6 exams.
★I also understand the nervousness one feels, like studying for an exam.

Currently, I'm a company employee. Aside from work, I run Chinese classes for my company twice a month in business Chinese.
No matter how good I become, I'm not sure I can say that I teach so well.
★I understand how hard it is and the methods of studying a language while working.

I usually do one-to-one lessons, but indeed you need to make an effort to make time to come and go.
I thought that I could make better use of time if I taught Chinese or Japanese online, which is why I decided to start giving lessons here.
♥I'm looking forward to meeting you all on Cafetalk and making new friends♥

<My way of teaching>
When I teach students, I put extra focus on "pronunciation" and "conversation".
If you develop a bad pronunciation habit at the start, it's quite difficult to fix it later on. I thoroughly correct everyone’s pronunciation one by one, so it's not anything to feel embarrassed about.
Also, the focus in beginner levels is more on pronunciation and conversation, and on grammar in intermediate and advanced levels.
I not only teach what's in textbooks, but also buzzwords, conversation useful for travel and business conversation.
Needless to say, I respond to everyone’s requests and teach the syllabus or lesson contents according to your level.
Feel free to consult with me about any request whatsoever.
I look forward to your requests.

<Hobbies>
・I enjoy travel and gourmet as well as reading. I also like J-pop and K-pop.
・I can teach beginner level Chinese in English.
・I can speak Korean a little.
I'm more than happy to talk about a variety of things with everyone in our lessons(^-^*)
