Hello :)
I am a fledging Korean language tutor who’s always thinking of fun ways to teach foreign languages.
My name is 수혜 (Suhye).
I currently live in Seoul and teach Korean around 2 to 3 times a week as a volunteer activity for international citizens who want to learn Korean.
I mainly teach Korean to Japanese speakers, but I’ve also had classes with students from France and Australia.
I mostly teach beginner-level students, but I have experience teaching everything from basic Korean, advanced-level conversation, to TOPIK reading comprehension.
• Bachelor’s Degree in East Asian Regional Studies
• Master’s Degree in International Chinese Language Education
• Bachelor’s Degree in Korean as a Foreign Language (expected to be awarded August 2025)
I love the Chinese and Japanese languages.
When I was in university, I majored in East Asian Studies and studied both Japanese and Chinese.
I studied abroad in Shanghai and Qingdao, China for around two years, and afterwards, wanting to learn how to teach Chinese more effectively, I attended a graduate school in South Korea.
In graduate school, I studied effective methods for teaching differnt languages, and by the time I graduated, I also had experience creating Chinese language teaching materials.
I enjoy communicating with Japanese people.
Although I haven’t studied abroad in Japan, I enjoy talking with Japanese people. During my time studying in China, I mainly interacted with Japanese friends, so I can handle simple Japanese conversations. Also, I really liked J-POP when I was a high schooler and listened to it often. I currently am into the Japanese character “Rilakkuma,” and I also enjoy shopping in Japan so I frequently travel to Japan. Even when traveling to countries other than Japan, I always go around with Rilakkuma and love taking photos together. ♡(‘㉦’)♡
These are some of the things I like:
Cycling along the Han River, traveling, K-POP, cheering for idols, singing, home workouts, watching Chinese dramas, and going to cafes
My primary goal is to create enjoyable Korean language lessons.
I identify what students enjoy, and what interests them, so I incorporate those into my lessons.
This is because seeing students having fun while studying makes me even happier and it brings me joy as well.
I want to convey the joy of learning Korean to many more people, making them feel that it’s not just a difficult and burdensome subject, but rather a fun hobby.
I provide conversation-focused lessons so that students can enjoy speaking with Korean people.
• Beginner-level Korean (grammar, reading, and speaking)
• Free-talking in Korean
Why not join me to discover the joy and charm of the Korean language?
