Thomas_C 講師的自我介紹
My name is Thomas. I have a B.S. in Social Sciences from York College of Pennsylvania in York, PA, as well as graduate course work at Virginia Polytechnical Institute. I'm an Editor at a well-known American science journal and love reading and editing scientific manuscripts while working with authors and editors to help keep science advancing in our world. I grew up in a stone farmhouse teaming and writhing with books (spanning the scope of Western Civilization) and have been obsessed with the power of reading ever since I felt that first sentence sink sweetly into my tender neurons. This obsession has taken me on a voyage from writing English novels, short stories, and essays (and teaching Japanese people English for 2+ years) to abandoning English for over 4 years to immerse myself deeply in Japanese culture. The most exhilirating result (so far) of my Japan immersion (full-time, 10,000+hours) has been developing the ability to read Japanese novels at near-native speed and depth.
I offer students a wealth of the latest knowledge (technology, theory, and practice) on how to create a complete home/office cultural immersion environment that will allow them to accelerate their language learning, and have lots of fun in the process.
Although I'm most interested in novels, I've also immersed in thousands of Japanese films (Sho Miyake!) and Japanese T.V. shows (OOMameda Towako!) and can show you how to get the most out of your viewing experience.
I enjoy reading with students and helping them with monolingual translations (typing in Skype), as I firmly believe this is the fastest, most powerful way to become fluent fast.
I can also help with ways to integrate goals, linguistic theory, technology (SRS, etc) and spirituality into your language learning journey. I look forward to meeting you soon.
