Hello, my name is Alan Dooley.  I'm 41 years old and come from Ireland.  I am currently living and working in France as an online English teacher. After graduating from university with a BA in Heritage Studies in 2007, I worked in the health insurance industry, where I worked as a sales representative. After obtaining my TEFL certificate in 2009, I then moved to Germany where I began my teaching career. I worked there from 2010 - 2018. I then moved to France where I currenty live.

I have covered all levels from Beginner to Advanced. I have taught all class sizes from individual to large groups.  My students come from all four corners of the world, and all walks of life such as CEOs, engineers, trainees, soldiers, refugees, lawyers, apprentices, interns, PHD students, football agents , technicians, stay at home parents, unemployed ,teenagers and the retired.
 
My approach is to give my students exactly what they need whatever that may be. I believe in making the student feel at ease immediately and then inquire to what he/she needs and pinpoint the areas that need to be worked on. Based on that, I can develop a plan that will cater to the students needs and wishes. Humor and fun are integral parts of my lessons as I believe be it a CEO or a teenager, humour and fun can lead to better productivity.

I will always adapt my lesson plans according to the student's progress. I am a big believer in practical use of the language. I always make sure that they have language that they can use not just from time to time but on a regular basis be it for trips, meetings, email writing, social interaction, school etc. I always make sure that my students learn in a fun yet productive environment.

Note-  I will stay in the lesson for maximum 20 minutes if student does not show up. However, with notification before lesson of student's late arrival, I will remain until student shows up.
