Hello, my name is Mariana! I am a California-native currently living in Oakland, California (near San Francisco). I studied at the University of California, Davis where I received a master's degree in Art History and a bachelor's degree in Italian language and literature.
Even before my studies, I was a person passionate about learning! Being from California, I was raised bilingually, meaning I speak both English and Spanish as my mother tongues. However, I also studied French in high school and later partially self-taught myself to speak Italian--a skill I further developed during my university studies. Now, I am learning to speak German!
Aside my passion for languages, I am also passionate about teaching. As a master's student, I taught courses in Art History and Comparative Literature departments. I really enjoyed planning the different lessons and helping my students succeed in their coursework.
Now on Cafetalk, I am looking forward to helping you to improve your language skills through fun lessons using art and art history! In California, I helped foreign exchange students improve their English skills through an on-campus language exchange program. During these meetings I used skills I had gained teaching university courses to create fun, but helpful, conversation exercises using art or literature. My goal now on Cafetalk is to bring this exciting method here to help you learn English, Spanish, or Italian in a fun and exciting way all the while gaining cultural knowledge!
