About My Experience Studying and Working in JapanHello everyone, my name is Ponyo. I am from Taipei.
After graduating from the National Taiwan University of the Arts, I worked as a reporter for a major newspaper, in marketing for a film company, and as a business development manager for a travel business group company. I have always liked Japanese manga, movies, and J-Pop since I was a child, so I studied abroad in Tokyo in 2010, and started working in branding, marketing, and global business development at a major advertising agency in 2018. I have lived in Japan for almost 10 years now and have experienced the 311 East Japan Earthquake and the recent pandemic along with the people in Japan.
My hobbies include traveling, movies, strength training, skateboarding, tennis, and Korean food. I have traveled to all prefectures in Japan, interviewed people in various places, written columns for magazine media, and have offered lectures. I have traveled around the island by Taiwan railroad, and have also traveled alone to South Korea and Macau. I especially love Korean dramas, movies, and spicy food.
I married in 2023, to my Swiss husband, and we currently live in the beautiful eastern part of Taiwan, Taitung.
About My Teaching Experience
I have been teaching Chinese (Taiwan Hokkien) to Japanese students since 2010. I also have extensive Chinese to Japanese translation experience from working for a company in Tokyo. I believe that I can explain how to study the finer nuances of Chinese from a Japanese perspective, and help you improve your Chinese language skills through conversation.
From past experience, I have found that speaking with a native speaker is the best way to gain fluency in Chinese. I will do my best to make my lessons fun and interesting. My goal is to help you become more relaxed and confident when using Chinese.
I want to share different life stories
I am interested in any topic and have experience as a teacher who can talk about different cultures, travel, study abroad, international romantic relationships, personal relationships, and everyday life concerns. I can also listen to your problems and share various life stories.
What are you waiting for, let’s enjoy conversing in Chinese together! First, please book a 15-minute free trial lesson with me. I look forward to talking with you!
As an Influencer
As an influencer, I am involved in a wide range of business projects connecting Japan and Taiwan, including SNS planning and management, writing columns for web media/magazines, and hosting podcasts and radio programs.
