Bonjour à tous! Hello everyone!

My name is Tiaré, a French language navigator. What do you want to achieve in French? Oh the joy of being able to communicate in French with a single word or phrase! Let’s take the first step to make your dreams come true today.

Who is Tiaré, the French language navigator?

“Tiaré” is the national flower of French Polynesia (Tahiti), where I used to live, and means “flower” in Tahitian.

I have been living in French-speaking regions for over 20 years. I currently live in the suburbs of Paris with my French partner and our child in elementary school (who is bilingual in French-Japanese).

Although now I have no trouble using French in my daily life, I started learning French from scratch about 30 years ago in a provincial city in Japan.

At the time, there was a very limited option for schools and materials to learn French from, and without Skype or YouTube, it was a challenge. I had no opportunity to be exposed to real-life French.

Even with the Internet not as widespread as it is today, and with limited time to study, I was still able to obtain the second grade of the French proficiency test while I was still a student. (Incidentally, my major at university was neither French literature nor foreign languages.)

Why was it possible for me to improve my French language skills through self-study and a short (4 week) summer study abroad program?

This is because, from the very beginning of my studies, I focused on the “sound” and “rhythm” of the French language, and realized the importance of “spelling and pronunciation” and “dictation.”

 “Spelling and Pronunciation” & “Dictation”

This is actually what French elementary school students are thoroughly trained in during their “French Language” classes.

For those who are busy and do not have much time, I would like you to work on "reading aloud" for even just 3 to 10 minutes every day. You can check your “spelling and pronunciation,” and if you do it in combination with “dictation,” you will be able to develop your “real French language skills.”

During my lessons, I will ask my students what French language skills they would like to improve, and carefully from a wide variety of teaching materials and media.

Those who want to start something that requires French language skills.

Those who want to learn useful French language skills.

Those who are anxious about living in France.

Continuity is essential when learning a language, but sometimes it is difficult to keep going, isn’t it?

As you continue to learn French, you may hit a roadblock.

You might be asking yourself “what even is the point of continuing if I can’t make any progress?” at times when you feel that the more you study, the more you “feel like you’re regressing,” or that “I should just stop learning French.”

There might even be dream crashers around you who make fun of your dreams and discourage you.

My role is to give you that extra boost and encouragement. Please let me know what “dream you want to achieve in learning French.” Let’s move steadily toward your dream, little by little, step by step.

If you are nervous about taking a full lesson from the beginning, please feel free to book my consultation session called “フランス語学習のヒント (Tips for Learning French).”

I look forward to meeting you in my lessons.

I hope you will cherish your desire to start learning French, no matter what age you are.
