Hello, my name is Monica and I've been in the English teaching industry for around 13 years now. I never thought teaching would become my passion until I joined an online school when I first started in 2010, and I'm blessed to still be given the chance to help and support many learners up to this day. I started teaching when I was still in the Philippines, and because of the many students I met, I was very much drawn to Japan and its people, and that's the reason why I decided to study Japanese in Tokyo and eventually got an opportunity to work at a language school after graduation. So, I'm still here, living in Japan for 11 years now.
As someone who is still studying a second language (Japanese), I can definitely understand the hurdles of English learners like you.
For me, the most important thing is to enjoy learning. So, let me be your guide and mentor in this life-long journey.
---------------*Educational background: University of the Philippines BA in Speech Communication and Broadcasting
*English Certification: American TESOL Institute Online Expert Certifications Program (Tampa, Florida)
After graduating from university, I worked as a disc jockey and radio announcer at an English-speaking radio station.
I came to Japan in 2012 and taught English while studying at Kudan Japanese Language School, Tokyo (I have studied up to Advanced I, so I I believe I'm quite proficient in daily conversation, but of course, the learning never stops).
There are many English instructors, but I have experienced studying a second language like Japanese, so I respect all you English learners out there. The improtant thing is to start. Enjoy it. And keep going.
It's okay if you make a mistake. The important thing is to make progress every day. Make progress, even if it's just a small step.
